You are absolutely right! Could this be one of the reasons behind the "right-to-life" movement? I always thought the (implied) religious fervor was based on hatred of women... but your perspective has altered mine. It usually all boils down to money, after all. And with all this "BUY,BUY, BUY" instant gratification, what will happen when the resources dwindle? When the national forests are logged out, when the oil reserves are released to bring the price of gas down by a nickel, when our minerals are depleted, when water is rationed, when food rots because the transportation system has broken down and people are starving? Of course we could go to war with our neighbors: grab their land, re-allot their resources (assuming they haven't consumed it all first), and reduce our population(s) by a large number of breeders. I feel that we need to revert to the 1930s mind-set: CONSERVE, REDUCE, RECYCLE, DON'T WASTE... how did that saying go? Use it up, wear it out, something, or do without? And ZPG sounds like a winner to me. I don't want my grandchildren to have to compete for the basics of life with 600 million or more people! How can we devise and implement the 'hard solution'? Thanks
